The length of time it takes for us to see a patient is based on a number of variables, including patient load and staff availability in the relevant region. The greatest impact on time to service however is a patient’s access to government funding, such as the NDIS or My Aged Care. The funding process is independent of Vision Australia, so if your patient does not already have funding in place, the time until we can see them can increase.
Alternatively, your patient may also choose to fund services themselves.
Vision Australia will make every effort to ensure your patient is seen as soon as possible by a service provider.
Yes, we will:
- acknowledge your referral and confirm your patient’s details have been received
- advise if your referral is successful outline when we plan to commence services.
If we are unable to contact your patient, we will contact you for additional information or support. If your patient declines services, we will send you an email advising you that your patient did not proceed with services.
Services provided by Vision Australia do incur a cost, but we will work with your patients to identify the funding source for which they are eligible.
There are several ways patients may access funding, including NDIS, My Aged Care and Home Care Packages. In some circumstances, a service will require a minimal client contribution. Your patients can also purchase equipment and services themselves.
Vision Australia is a national organisation that supports people right across the country. However, not every service is available in every state or territory. To find out if a specific service is available in your region, please call us on 1300 847 466.
